Located fifteen miles North of the 60th parallel in the Northwest Territories, Wignes Lake spans sixty thousand acres and sprawls an area 21 miles by 17 miles.

Surrounded by a shoreline with tundra-like characteristics such as sparse trees and large sand eskers, Wignes Lake has clear water that runs to known depths of 150 feet. We know of at least six holes near camp with depths up to 130 feet. These deep water holes consistently produce large numbers of trophy lake trout over 40 pounds! Trout in the 20-pound range are very common on Wignes. In addition to the deep-water trout holes, most anglers have great success fishing in the shallow water bays, submerged reefs and rock ledges for pike. Pike over 40" are common and fish near 50" are caught every season.

To maintain the quality of fisheries at Wignes Lake and to ensure our children will some day have the opportunity to experience wild remote places and productive lakes like these we require all guests to commit to our long-standing barbless hook / catch-and-release policy. The on-site manager and your guide will be pleased to provide information on proper fish handling techniques. We allow (and encourage) you to take some smaller fish for shorelunch or evening dinner enjoyment. They're delicious! The remaining fish must be handled with care and released to battle another day. We can assist you in obtaining a replica mount.
